Organisers of the 2021 Summer World University Games in Chengdu have launched a new YouTube channel to mark 200 days to go until the opening of the event in the Chinese city.

Chengdu 2021 has made available the entries in the competition to find the official song of the Games to listen to on the channel.

"All those looking forward to the Games can now enjoy the music by talented musicians, by listening to the entries on the 'Music Channel' playlist of the official YouTube account of the Chengdu 2021," the International University Sports Federation (FISU) said.

The playlist will be updated every Friday, the FISU added.

The contest to find a suitable musical number for the event, set to open on August 18 and conclude on August 29, began in November.

Entries had been scheduled to close on December 18 before organisers extended the deadline to March 16 because of "the enthusiastic response and the strong desire of participation from the public".

The chosen song will be used as part of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Torch Relay, for competitions and on various other occasions, and will also be promoted globally.

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of CNY80,000 (£9,000/$12,250/€10,000).

Second place will receive CNY40,000 (£4,530/$6,120/€5,000), while third will get CNY20,000 (£2,260/$3,000/€2,500).
