France and Germany will join Russia and defending champions Denmark in the semi-finals of the European Mixed Team Badminton Championship in Vantaa after all four won today.

The French began the day level on points with The Netherlands in Group B, but crucially had the better head-to-head record.

That became elementary as France beat England 4-1 - consigning them to leave Finland winless - while the Dutch fell 4-1 to Russia.

Russia topped the group with three wins from three.

In Group A, Germany whitewashed hosts Finland to book their place in the last four, having finished runners-up two years ago.

Denmark rotated their team but still squeezed past Scotland 3-2 and topped the group.

The semi-final draw was conducted after the last group-stage matches, and produced rematches.

Russia will play France in the first semi-final tomorrow, followed by Denmark versus Germany which is a rematch of the 2019 final.

France lost 4-1 to Russia in the group stage; Denmark beat Germany 3-2 24 hours ago.
