Patrick Reed will hope to defend his World Golf Championships (WGC)-Workday Championship, title with competition scheduled to begin tomorrow in Florida.

The event had been scheduled to take place at the Chapultepec Golf Club in Mexico City.

Organisers confirmed last month that "logistical challenges" caused by COVID-19 meant the tournament would be relocated to the Concession Golf Club in Florida, however.

Reed is the defending champion after defeating fellow American Justin Thomas by one shot last year.

Both players feature on the event's list of starters this year.

The competition is the first WGC event of the season, with the calendar also featuring the Match Play, Invitational and Champions tournaments.

Thomas has won two WGC events during his career, including last year’s Invitational.

The top 10 players in the world rankings are all expected to compete.

World number one Dustin Johnson will seek a seventh WGC title, with the American having won the Championship event in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy is another possible contender for victory.

McIlroy has won three WGC titles to date.

Organisers confirmed prior to the event that Workday, a leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, will serve as the title sponsor.

The Concession is now set to stage a PGA Tour event for the first time.

It was designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin and named in honour of their famous 1969 Ryder Cup contest.
