The upcoming Kharlampiev Memorial Sambo World Cup is to be held with crowds capped at 50 per cent in Moscow later this month.

The limit will be in place on the advice of health authorities, given the coronavirus pandemic.

Competition is scheduled to be held on March 25 and 26 in the Small Sports Arena of the Luzhniki Stadium complex.

The tournament is named after one of the founders of sambo, Anatoly Kharlampiev.

There will be bouts in men's, women's and combat sambo weight classes.

Russia's Ministry of Sport, the Department of Sports and Tourism of Moscow, the International Sambo Federation, the All-Russian Sambo Federation and the Moscow Sambo Federation are collaborating on the organisation of the event.

In December 2020, the Kharlampiev Memorial World Cup was held with no spectators due to COVID-19.

The event attracted over more than 300 athletes from 15 countries.

Twenty-one nations are expected to be represented this time around.
