The United States' Evan Austin finished day two of the World Para Swimming World Series leg in Lewisville with two gold medals after wins in the men's 50 metres butterfly and 400m freestyle.

Finishing the mixed-classification 50m butterfly in a time of 30.07sec in the final, Austin was a clear winner in Texas with a total of 1,006 points.

His closest challenger was Afghanistan-born Mohammad Abbas Karimi who hopes to compete for the Refugee Paralympic Team at Tokyo 2020, with the 24-year-old pick up 897 points for silver.

S6 category swimmer Yerzhan Salimgereyev of Kazakhstan claimed bronze in a time of 32.81, finishing with a total of 891.

Austin earned 1,011 points in the 400m freestyle, through a time of 4min 42.28sec.

Juan Gutierrez of Mexico scored 941 for silver, while American Matthew Torres scored 891 for bronze.

Nineteen-year-old Lawrence Sapp improved on his silver medal yesterday to win gold in the men's 100m butterfly, claiming 994 points.

Cho Won-sang of South Korea, a Paralympic bronze medallist, was second with 965 points, one point ahead of William Martin of Australia.

Another gold went the way of the hosts when Morgan Stickney won the women's 400m freestyle, finishing in a time of 4:43.70 with a total of 1,046 points.

She finished ahead of compatriot Anastasia Pagonis, who set an American S11 women's 400m freestyle record twice with the new best 5:03.30, claiming silver with 992 points.

Pagonis' split time at 200m was also a new national record.

Australia's Paige Leonhardt won a second gold medal of the weekend in the women's 100m butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:07.53 for 1004 points.

Colombia's Sara Vargas Blanco won the women's 50m freestyle in a time of 35.09 for 950 points, while Australia's Timothy Disken ended the day with a win in the men's 50m freestyle in a time of 25.70 for 996 points.

More than 110 athletes representing 20 nations are competing at the World Para Swimming World Series event.

Tomorrow marks the final day of competition at the LISD Westside Aquatic Center.
