Shephard, competing in the men’s short stature SH6 category, secured an impressive 21-12, 21-14 victory over France’s Charles Noakes in the last four.

He will now compete in an all-English final against Krysten Coombs, who overcame teammate Isaak Dalglish 21-12, 21-8.

"I’m really excited about it actually," Coombs said.

"It’s good to be back.

"During the lockdown I’ve been keeping myself mentally focused on what we’re here to do and perform well.

"Having had a few home tournaments already we’re lucky enough that there’s me, Jack and Isaak together in the same squad and that’s really helped me for this competition."

England’s Daniel Bethell also advanced to the men’s singles standing lower SL3.

Bethell earned a 21-6, 21-4 win over Ukraine’s Oleksandr Chyrkov.

His reward will be a meeting with Thailand’s Mongkhon Bunsun, who secured a hard-fought 21-18, 16-21, 21-15 win against Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympic places are on offer at the event.

Thailand’s Sujirat Pookkham and Amnouy Wetwithan advanced to the final of the women’s doubles wheelchair WH1-WH2 event.

The duo overcame Tatiana Gureeva and Irina Kuzmenko of Russia 21-3, 21-8 in the semi-finals.

Germany’s Valeska Knoblauch and Elke Rongen can now secure a Paralympic berth.

In women’s singles standing upper SU5 event, Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren overcame Megan Hollander of the Netherlands.

Two players were withdrawn from the competition prior to the day’s play, after one player recorded a positive test for COVID-19.

One French player tested positive and was asked to self-isolate in their hotel room, with one of their compatriots considered a close contact and quarantined.

Both players were due to compete in semi-finals, with their opponents granted walkovers.
