With some representatives of National Federations attending in person and others online, it is set to be the first time a hybrid IJF Congress will take place.

All votes will be completed electronically.

Vizer has been President of the IJF since 2007, succeeding South Korea's Yong Sung Park.

This is set to be the Romanian's fifth term as President, following his re-election in 2017.

Between 1995 and 2001, he was the President of the Romanian Judo Federation and then served seven years as the President of the European Judo Union between 2000 and 2007.

He was also head of SportAccord for two years between 2013 and 2015, before resigning after criticising International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach.

The pair have since mended their relationship.

The IJF Congress is set to open with welcome speeches from the Hungarian Government and the Hungarian Judo Association President László Tóth, followed by reports from the President, administration, general secretary and general treasurer.

Vizer is then expected to be re-elected, followed by budget discussions and director's speeches.

Sports, refereeing and education and coaching issues will also be addressed before the five continental unions - Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and Pan-America - give their own reports.

Statutory recommendations will be made before the closing of the Congress tomorrow.

Yesterday, the IJF Executive Committee met for the first time since 2019 ahead of the Congress.

Following the IJF Congress, the World Championships are scheduled to take place in Budapest from Sunday (June 6) to June 13.
