Steffen Olsen of Denmark, beaten by Austria’s Gernot Rumpler in the previous day’s prone rifle shooting, turned the tables at the European Shooting Championships in Osijek today in the 300 metres rifle 3 positions men’s individual event.

Olsen finished top with 1181, one ahead of Rumpler, whose compatriot Andreas Thum took bronze on 1179.

In the women’s 300m rifle 3 positions individual event Switzerland’s Silvia Guignard Schnyder finished with 1170 ahead of Sweden’s Elin Ahlin on 1167 and Slovenia’s Urska Kuharic on 1151.

Italy 2, comprising London 2012 Olympic champion Jessica Rossi and Valerio Grazini won the trap mixed team with a score of 41 to the 39 accrued by silver medallists Britain 2 - the previous day’s individual trap champion Matthew John Coward-Holley and Charlotte Hollands.

Spain’s pairing of Alberto Fernandez and Fatima Galvez won the bronze medal match 43-38 against Slovakia’s Erik Varga and Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova.

Germany won the gold medal match in the 25 metres pistol team women event.

The German trio of Doreen Vennekamp, Monika Karsch and Carina Wimmer beat Bulgaria’s Maria Grozdeva, Miroslava Mincheva and Antoaneta Kostadinova 16-10.

Bronze went to Hungary, overwhelmingly, as Renata Sike, Veronika Major and Zsofia Csonka beat the Ukraine team of Anastasiia Nimets, Olena Kostevych and Oksana Kovalchuk 16-2.

The Championships conclude on Saturday (June 5).
