Ticket information for next year's event has been unveiled, alongside full details of the 286 sessions of sport which will take place.

The starting £22 price for adults will include every medal session and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Under-16 tickets will start at just £8 ($11/€9) for some events, while the cheapest adult tickets will be £15 ($21/€17).

Registration for the ticket ballot is now open, with residents of the West Midlands then able to apply for tickets in July.

The main ticket ballot will begin in September for what organisers have billed as the "Games for Everyone".

"With Birmingham 2022 fully on track to stage a fantastic, fully inclusive event, now is the time to plan your visit to the Commonwealth Games," said Commonwealth Games Federation President Dame Louise Martin.

"The publication of the full event schedule today reveals 11 exciting days of competition that will see 4,500 elite athletes compete across 19 sports.

"We are particularly proud to be offering affordable ticket prices, so please make sure you don't miss out and that you visit the Birmingham 2022 website to create your ticketing account right now."

Birmingham 2022 is scheduled between July 28 and August 8 next year, and boasts the biggest sport programme ever seen at a Commonwealth Games.

The second Sunday - on August 7 - is dedicated to women's sport with finals in netball and T20 cricket set to feature.

After the Opening Ceremony, medals are set to be awarded on day one in swimming, cycling, gymnastics and triathlon.

Track and field is due to begin on July 2.

"With more detail for our sports programme now revealed, the Games is really taking shape and it's time for people to start planning which sessions they want to attend next summer, as our tickets will go on sale very soon," said Birmingham 2022 director of sport Matt Kidson.

"With 19 different sports and eight Para-sports, we have such a rich and varied programme and there will be medal moments on every single day of competition.

"We also have a really interesting mix of venues, with established facilities like the NEC and Arena Birmingham, beautiful parks like St Nicholas Park and West Park and exciting redevelopments like the Alexander Stadium, where the progress in the last 12 months has been phenomenal."

Athletes who are hoping to represent hosts England at the Games helped to launch the ticket details and event schedule at Alexander Stadium - the focal Birmingham 2022 venue which will stage athletics and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The stadium in Perry Barr is being renovated for the Games and a "huge amount of progress" is said to have been made.

This includes roof liner sheets on the new stand being completed, concrete support for seating and metal decked floors.

Feature steps for the northern plaza have also been installed.

"The summer of 2022 is set for a spectacular Commonwealth Games, with 11 days of world-class sport in our city and wider region," said Birmingham City Council leader Ian Ward.

"The redeveloped Alexander Stadium will be at the heart of the Games, as the venue will not only host the athletics but the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

"The Alexander Stadium redevelopment is progressing at a lightning speed, with the roof of the new west stand now complete. 

"Once finished the Alexander Stadium will be truly befitting for the world's best track and field athletes and as a bold centre piece of leisure, health and well-being activity in a regenerated Perry Barr."
