Work is well underway on the new campus of the Ural Federal University (UrFU), which will play a key part in the 2023 Summer World University Games in Yekaterinburg.

The Governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, presented the project of the new campus at a strategic meeting of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia in Skolkovo.

The campus is being built as the venue for the 2023 Summer World University Games Village.

After the International University Sports Federation Games are over, UrFU will take over 8,500 living spaces in dormitories and three contemporary university buildings.

They will be equipped with robust infrastructure for studies, leisure and sport.

Kuyvashev said that building the new campus will allow the region to cultivate a contemporary educational environment, that would significantly increase the number of scientific discoveries for industrial purposes.
