An online exhibition has been launched which links two-time Winter Olympic host Lake Placid with Beijing 2022.

"From Lake Placid to Beijing, 2022 Winter Olympics Exhibition" is being run by the China National Tourist Office of New York and the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority.

It features old photographs and interviews with insiders.

China made its Winter Olympic debut in Lake Placid, a village in the Adirondack Mountains region of New York state, in 1980.

The 1932 Winter Olympics were also held there.

Beijing 2022 will see the Chinese capital become the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics, with the Games set to mark the 90th anniversary of Lake Placid 1932.

"I warmly welcome the American people to enjoy the Beijing Winter Olympics, experience Chinese culture, and come to China to watch the Games," said Lin Kuang, director of the China National Tourist Office in New York.

The exhibition is an example of cooperation between China and the United States at a time when relations have been strained.

Earlier this month, the US Senate passed a bill confirming a diplomatic boycott of Beijing 2022.

The bipartisan bill introduces a series of measures aimed at tackling Chinese foreign policy and economic influence.

It adds that it will be US policy to "call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party's ongoing human rights abuses, including the Uyghur genocide".
