World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós has visited Dubai to inspect preparations for this year's postponed Karate World Championships.

Espinós met with Asian Karate Federation and UAE Karate Federation President Major General Nasser Alrazooqi, and other Organising Committee officials, during his trip to the Emirate city.

The World Championships had been due to take place in 2020 but the event was pushed back to this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I want to thank Major General Nasser Alrazooqi and his team for their efforts to make the 2021 World Senior Championships a truly memorable event," said Espinós.

"I am sure that with their expertise in the organisation of major events and their attention to detail, the tournament in November will continue the remarkable progress of our World Championships.

"The World Championships in Dubai will be a truly memorable event.

"Not only they will be the first World Championships after our Olympic debut, it will be the opportunity to celebrate the progress of karate in the 50 plus one years of the WKF’s history."

The rescheduled World Championships are scheduled to run from November 16 to 21.
