The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) has held its second virtual general secretaries seminar.

General secretaries and representatives from 22 National Federations (NFs) attended the online event.

Four sessions took place focusing on Olympic Solidarity programmes, safe sport, the Paralympic Movement within Zambia and the OYDC Zambia Sports Development Centre.

Opening the seminar NOCZ President Alfred Foloko said: "It is vital that sports organisations continue to adapt, renew and develop themselves through creative and innovative ideas.

"Various strategies need to be applied for sports associations/organisations to change how we play, view, and organise sport amidst the COVID-19 pandemic."

The seminar was attended by representatives from the Zambia Baseball and Softball Association, Badminton Zambia, Zambia Table Tennis Association, Zambia Judo Association, Zambia Swimming Union, Football Association of Zambia, Skate Zambia Association and Zambia University Sports Association, Handball Association of Zambia, Zambia Hockey Association, Zambia Volleyball Association, Zambia Boxing Federation, Chess Federation of Zambia, Cycling Association of Zambia, Zambia Basketball Federation, Zambia Rowing and Canoeing Association, Zambia Bowling Association, Zambia National Equestrian Federation, Zambia Taekwondo Association, Zambia Tennis Association and the Squash Association of Zambia.

During the seminar general secretaries from some of the Federations shared updates on the implementation of governance standards within their organisations.

Action points following the meeting included finalising any ongoing governance issues within NFs, the NOCZ sharing details of Olympic Solidarity programmes available and NFs developing a Code of Ethics and creating an Athletes Commission.
