Organisers of the 2016 and 2024 European Universities Games have held a transfer of knowledge meeting to help with preparations for the latter edition of the event in Debrecen-Miskolc.

Representatives from the Organising Committee of the 2016 Games in Zagreb-Rijeka shared their experiences of staging the multi-sport event with their Hungarian counterparts during the meeting in the Croatian capital.

Topics such as communication, ceremonies, project management, administration, sports, volunteers, legacy and sponsorship were among the main topics discussed.

Organisers of the 2024 Games were able to ask questions and receive feedback.

The 2024 European Universities Games are due to take place from July 10 to 25.

Around 5,000 participants and 1,500 volunteers are expected at the event in the two Hungarian cities.

Belgrade had been due to host the European Universities Games this year before it was postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19.

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) hope the event could be held in 2023.

Pushing the event into 2022 is not an option as Lodz in Poland is due to host the Games next year, and the EUSA does not want to move this from the calendar.
