The United States and France reached the final of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-19 World Cup after both countries won their semi-finals by six points.

The US faced Canada in a repeat of the 2017 semi-final, and the holders earned revenge for that loss against their North American neighbours when they claimed a 92-86 victory.

The US won the first two quarters by five and six points respectively to earn a comfortable half-time lead of 49-38, before Canada cut the deficit by winning the third quarter by five points.

Quarter four was shared 23 points apiece but by this point the Canadians had left themselves with too much to do.

The second semi-final at the Olympic Sports Center in Riga, Latvia, saw France beat Serbia 75-69, also by a six point margin, en route to reaching the final for the first time.

Serbia started in dominant fashion winning the first quarter 23-13, before France won quarters two and three by four and two points respectively as they began to eat into the deficit.

France then won the final quarter 22-12 to complete the turnaround and book their place in the final.

Elsewhere, the second day of classification matches took place to determine the final match-ups for places five through to 16.

Spain will face Lithuania for fifth and sixth place after they respectively defeated Senegal 83-67 and Argentina 107-81, with Senegal and Argentina meeting for seventh and eighth.

Australia will face Turkey for ninth and tenth place after they respectively beat Latvia 89-44 and Iran 84-61, with Latvia and Iran set to contest 11th and 12th.

Mali will face Puerto Rico for 13th and 14th after they respectively overcame Japan 104-66 and Korea 99-89, with Japan and Korea meeting to settle 15th and 16th places in the championship.
