The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has postponed its Global Education Conference in Australia for a second time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event has been rescheduled for September 2022, with the exact dates and venue to be announced "as soon as possible".

It had been initially due to take place in October 2020, before being pushed back to this year because of obstacles and complications stemming from the COVID-19 crisis.

WADA promised the third edition of the conference would "gather anti-doping practitioners and researchers from around the world to share and discuss emerging trends".

It is also designed to "contribute to education program development" and "examine how Anti-Doping Organisations can enhance their education programmes while keeping athletes and their support personnel at the centre of their learning strategies".

WADA is in talks with France regarding moving its hosting of the 2022 Global Education Conference to 2024 to accommodate the postponement of the event in Australia.

"WADA and our Australian hosts, Sport Integrity Australia, have decided to postpone the next Global Education Conference once more and hopefully for the last time," said WADA's director of education Amanda Hudson.

"By focusing on September 2022, we anticipate being able to maximise in-person attendance, while preparing to offer a virtual solution for those stakeholders that may not be able to attend in person.

"We would like to thank Sport Integrity Australia for its patience and flexibility in accommodating the Conference, which we are very excited to hold and hope will be a success."

WADA was last month forced to cancel its Annual Symposium, the biggest annual gathering of the anti-doping world, for a second year running as a result of the global health crisis.
