A third strategic dialogue has been held online by International University Sports Federation (FISU) America, bringing together National Federations and the FISU World Forum organisers to discuss how to further develop university sport across the continents.

The two-day event first focussed on FISU's general activities, before leading into discussions about the challenges for university sport during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Day one also featured a roundtable discussion on the impact and development of online sports.

FISU World Forum organisers ended the day with a presentation on their event, which is set to take place next year in Costa Rica.

"The strategic dialogue is one of the most important dates for FISU America because we can exchange ideas, information, experiences towards the development of university sports and the university sports system, and it is especially important during this time of pandemic," said FISU America President Alim Maluf in his opening speech.

The second day of dialogue included seminars on the FISU Healthy Campus initiative, collaboration with National Olympic Committees, financial strategies, relations with national governments and a roundtable discussion on the 2020 International Day of University Sports celebrations.

"It is really important to develop networking, cooperation, long-term strategic planning and recognition, and the strategic dialogue helps towards these objectives," added FISU President Leonz Eder.

"Long-term planning requires patience and dedication.

"This is not only true for FISU, but it is true down to each individual country and organisation.

"Networking, cooperation, and strategic planning leads to the recognition of university sports in academic societies as well as in states and sports activities."
