The 2021 editions of the FIFAe World Cup  and FIFAe Nations Cup have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournaments have been called off as a result of global travel restrictions currently in place for qualified teams and players from around the world.

The FIFAe World Cup was scheduled to be hosted in London from August 6 to 8, whereas the FIFAe Nations Cup 2021 was set to be held in Copenhagen from August 20 to 22.

Despite the cancellation, FIFA insists it is keen to show appreciation to the competitors' commitment throughout the season by equally distributing the prize money between players and member associations.

Players who qualified for the FIFAe World Cup will receive their share individually, whereas member associations will receive a financial reward for reaching the FIFAe Nations Cup.

The total prize pool for the 2021 FIFAe World Cup is $500,000 (£359,292/€420,822), while the Nations Cup boasts a $400,000 (£287,362/€336,612) kitty.

FIFA said that various stakeholders had raised concerns about the in-person tournaments in relation to the global health crisis.

The latest developments would not guarantee the integrity of the competitions as well as the safety and health of all involved parties.

The FIFAe World Cup is played by individuals against one another.

The inaugural event took place in 2004 and it was been contested annually until 2019, with last year's event also being cancelled.

The FIFAe Nations Cup has only been staged once, in 2019, and is a two-versus-two team competition.
