Online meetings for the Chef de Mission's of 45 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are set to be held from September 8 to 9 in preparation for next year's Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in China.

The meetings are due to inform the participating NOCs of policies and procedures of Hangzhou 2022 as well as the overall status of the hosting and co-hosting cities.

Meanwhile, the Organising Committee will be finding out how many athletes, officials and other staff plan to attend the Games.

Liu Xin, deputy chairman of the Hangzhou 2022 Organising Committee, announced the discussions.

The event is set to be the 19th edition of the Asian Games since its inauguration in 1951.

It is scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25 next year with 482 events across 40 sports planned.

Hangzhou is due to be the third Chinese city to stage the Games, after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.

The 2022 Asian Games will also include athletes from Oceania for the first time after the approval from Olympic Council of Asia to compete in sports which qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics through Asia.

These include volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, football and fencing.

Hangzhou is also set to host the 2022 Asian Para Games from October 9 to 15.

The inaugural edition took place in Guangzhou 2010.
