Mamedov, who held the solo lead going into the day’s games, could only halve his match with Poland’s Piorun Kacper.

This allowed Demchenko to join him on six points at the top of the standings, after Demchenko won 1-0 against Alexander Donchenko of Germany.

The standings have been tight throughout the event and this theme continues, with seven players on 5.5 points just behind Mamedov and Demchenko.

Kacper is the first on that mark after his draw with Rauf, and he is joined by Germany’s Vincent Keymer and Armenia’s Hovhannes Gabuzyan after their draw today.

Also on that mark are David Navara of the Czech Republic, Nidjat Mamedov of Azerbaijan, Evegeny Romanov of Bulgaria and Mustafa Yilmaz of Turkey, who all won 1-0 in their respective matches today.

Meanwhile, organisers confirmed three players, who have not been officially named, had been withdrawn from the event after a positive case of coronavirus.

In a statement issued today they said they were "approached by a player after round three who expressed that he had symptoms of COVID-19."

After being tested, he was declared by doctors as a positive case and withdrawn, while two other players are put in quarantine as a safety measure.

Organisers added: "We wish everyone a safe tournament and the affected players all the best in these unfortunate circumstances."
