Each team member at the upcoming World Sambo Championships will be subject to multiple polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 tests at the event in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan' capital is due to stage competition from November 12 to 14.

The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has released the tournament regulations, which state that each delegation member must pass PCR COVID-19 test in their home country no earlier than 48 hours prior to departure.

A second PCR test one day before the beginning of competition and a third one day prior to an individuals departure date are also mandatory, under an agreement with the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The FIAS is aiming to create a COVID-19-free bubble at the World Championships, as it did last year when Novi Sad in Serbia stage the tournament.

As a result, all participants must stay in designated hotels only.

The prize money for the event was also detailed in the regulations, with the total prize pool amounting to $231,000 (£168,500/€197,000).

Gold medallists will receive $4,000 (£2,900/€3,400) with silver and bronze winners taking home $3,000 (£2,180/€2,500) and $2,000 (£1,450/€1,700), respectively.

The tournament will be the first World Sambo Championships where winners will be determined in seven weight categories in each of the men's, women's and combat sambo disciplines, making 21 medal events in total.

There were nine events per discipline in 2020.

This year's World Sambo Championships is set to be the 46th edition of the event, with the first being held in Iranian capital Tehran in 1973.

It will be the third time that Tashkent has hosted the competition after the 2006 and 2010 editions.
