The Torch is entitled Laurels, and is inspired by the ancient jade cong, and osmanthus, the city flower of Hangzhou.

Organisers say the Torch is designed to embody the origins of the city of Hangzhou and its unique character.

The Torch is 756 millimetres long and weighs 1,160 grams, and has a yellow and purple colour scheme.

It has the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games logo and the words "Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games" engraved on it in braille.

Organisers say the Torch has been tested in so-called "extreme situations" including bad weather, shaking, dropping and gas recharging.

A special Torch stand has also been created to help wheelchair athletes with its transportation during their periods as Torchbearers.

To mark one year to go, a special event was also held at Hangzhou Yanglingzi School, with the event’s mascot Fei Fei in attendance.

Chief director of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Para Games Opening Ceremony Sha Xiaolan was also at the event and said the key themes of the ceremony would be "loving and touching."

Xiaolan said: "We're going to explore inner feelings of the differently abled and express through technology on the stage."

The 2022 Asian Para Games is scheduled to take place from October 9 to 15, with 4,000 athletes expected to compete across 22 sports.
