Russia continued their domination on day two of the World Youth and Junior Sambo Championships in Thessaloniki, Greece, as they won four more gold medals.

In the men’s youth disciplines, Amir Khakui won gold in the 71 kilograms category.

Alexandr Nedu of Moldova won the silver medal, with the two bronzes going to Vladimir Borisov of Bulgaria and Nazar Akishev of Ukraine.

In the 88kg category, Maxim Merzliakov won Russia’s second gold of the day, with silver in the category going to Kudyret Dossymov.

Bronze medals went to Belarusian Arseni Malitski and Mirjalol Normuminov of Uzbekistan.

Russia’s third gold of the day came in the men’s junior disciplines, as Nikolai Lukianchuk won the men’s 58kg category.

Uzbekistan’s Azam Rashidov won silver, with bronze medals going to David Hovsepyan of Armenia and Nurym Kairollin of Kazakhstan.

Russia’s fourth gold of the day came in the junior women’s disciplines, with Margarita Barneva triumphing in the 54kg category.

Snizhana Plish of Ukraine took the silver medal, while bronzes went to Alpesh Izenbay of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s Gulchiroy Ismoilova.

The remaining men’s youth category, the 79kg, was won by Shakhzodkhuja Sharipov of Uzbekistan, with silver going to Dimitar Smilyanov of Bulgaria.

Bronze medals were won by Mikhail Kukharenka of Belarus and Bohdan Tsysar of Ukraine.

In the women’s youth categories, the 59kg was won by Sofiia Bordinskykh of Ukraine, with silver going to Aktoty Zarip of Kazakhstan.

Bronze medals were awarded to Anel Kairatkyzy of Kazakhstan and Anastasiia Pozdniak of Russia.

Anna Papadopoulou of Greece won the 65kg category, with silver going to Tsvetelina Marinova of Bulgaria.

The 72kg category was won by Elizabeth Kovalev of Israel, with the silver medal going to Anastasiya Konopleva of Russia.

Bronze medals went to Yana Shymko of Ukraine and Gulina Oblokulova of Uzbekistan.

The remaining men’s junior category up for grabs was the 64kg, won by Shakhriyorbek Mamatkulov of Uzbekistan.

Russia’s Sergey Nikulin won silver, with bronze medals going to Yessentay Imakhanov of Kazakhstan and Mohamed Taibi of Morocco.

Finally, in the women’s junior 50kg category, there was more gold for Uzbekistan as Sabina Davlatova was victorious.

Iuliia Molchanova of Russia claimed the silver medal, with bronzes going to Daria Iryna Shvedyk of Ukraine and Aikun Rakhmetova of Kazakhstan.

Ten more categories are set to be decided on the final day of competition tomorrow, with medals awarded in the 80kg and +80kg categories in the women’s youth event, 98kg and +98kg categories in the men’s youth event, the 59kg, 65kg and 72kg categories in the women’s junior event and the 71kg, 79kg and 88kg categories in the men’s junior event.
