PointsBet Canada has become the official sports betting partner of Curling Canada and will also be a title sponsor of a Curling Canada Season of Champions competition in the 2022-2023 season.

The governing body hope that the partnership, which takes effect immediately, offers new and engaging ways for fans to connect with its events.

"With the passing of legalized sports betting by the federal government this past summer, we knew that there would be many opportunities available for our sport to be part of a new, legal and regulated way for fans to enjoy our events," said Katherine Henderson, chief executive of Curling Canada.

"PointsBet’s track record speaks for itself, as the company has existing partnerships with a variety of highly regarded partners around the world, and we couldn’t be happier to enter into this new venture with an industry leader."

PointsBet Canada has hit the ground running in the country after the Government legalised single-game betting in August with the passing of Bill C-218.

"As one of the only true Canadian operators, it was important for PointsBet Canada to partner with organizations deeply rooted in our nation’s identity," said Scott Vanderwel, chief executive of PointsBet Canada.

"Our partnership with Curling Canada will not only support community-based sports but bring curling fans an unprecedented experience from coast-to-coast-to-coast."

The Australian company has secured exclusive partner status in the United States with numerous professional sports teams, including the National Hockey League (NHL’s) Colorado Avalanche and National Basketball Association (NBA's) Denver Nuggets, and also has US partnerships in place with the NHL, NBA, Women's NBA, National Football League, Major League Baseball, and the PGA Tour, among others.
