The coaches who led Iran to an unprecedented Kabaddi double at the 2018 Asian Games have had their contracts extended to cover the 2022 edition.

India had won all nine Asian Games kabaddi gold medals before Jakarta-Palembang 2018, but Iran's men and women both won gold in Indonesia.

Shailaja Jain, the Indian who coaches Iran's women, has been given a contract extension to cover Hangzhou 2022, the Tehran Times reports.

Men's coach Gholamreza Mazandarani will also stay on until at least Hangzhou 2022, per the Tehran Times.

Iran's haul of two kabaddi gold medals at Jakarta-Palembang 2018 represented one of the biggest shocks in Asian Games history.

India's men had never lost a match at the Asian Games before 2018, when they lost three - including a semi-final defeat against Iran.

Iran beat South Korea, who had earlier upset India in the group stage, in the final.

Iran's men finished the tournament unbeaten.

The Iranian women suffered a group-sage loss to Chinese Taipei, but bounced back and defeated India in the gold-medal match.
