India ended their participation at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's Twenty20 World Cup on a high with a comfortable victory over Namibia in Dubai.

India’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals had been dashed yesterday when New Zealand’s victory over Afghanistan guaranteed them a top-two spot with Pakistan.

It left India playing a dead rubber against Namibia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both claimed three wickets as India’s bowlers restricted Namibia to 132-8.

David Wiese top-scored for Namibia with 26 runs.

India’s openers made early inroads into Namibia’s total with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul both making half-centuries.

Sharma was eventually caught for 56 off the bowling of Jan Frylinck.

Suryakumar Yadav came to the crease with his 25 adding to a 54 not out by Rahul as India eased to a nine-wicket win.

India reached the target in the 16th over.

They subsequently finished third in Group 2 after winning three matches and suffering two defeats, with the pre-tournament favourites disappointed to miss out on a semi-final place.

Namibia placed fifth in the six-team group, with their sole win in the Super 12 phase coming against Scotland.

The tournament will resume on Wednesday (November 10), when England face New Zealand in the first semi-final in Dubai.

England have been dealt a blow after opening batsman Jason Roy was ruled out of the tournament with a torn calf muscle, which was sustained in their final group match against South Africa.

Pakistan will face Australia in the second semi-final on Thursday (November 11).
