Hosts Peru will begin this year's Under-18 Women's Softball World Cup with a clash against The Netherlands, while defending champions United States will start by facing Colombia.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) has confirmed the fixtures for the tournament, which will be played at the Villa Maria del Triunfo Sports Complex in Lima between December 6 and 12.

All nine sides will play a single round-robin and the top two teams will advance to the final.

The third and fourth placed sides will lock horns for bronze.

Teams face playing twice on the same day at various stages of the event, with Colombia meeting Chinese Taipei in the tournament's first match at 10am local time before their game with the Americans in the afternoon.

South Africa will play both Puerto Rico and Mexico on day one, while the US will also take on Czech Republic.

Peru will twice play back-to-back fixtures, meeting Puerto Rico and Colombia consecutively on day three and Mexico and South Africa in a double header on December 11, the last day of round-robin matches.

This will be the first Women's Under-18 Softball World Cup, as the event was previously in the under-19 age group.

The event was delayed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but all players have remained eligible.

The US won the last three editions of the under-19 tournament.

"The WBSC Under-18 Women’s Softball World Cup marks the return of the Softball World Cups, almost two years after our last event was played," said WBSC softball chairman Tommy Velazquez.

"This is also the first international softball event since the sport's great success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

"I want to congratulate and express my gratitude to all the participating teams for their determination and excitement to be back on the field.

"I also want to recognise our excellent hosts, the Peruvian Softball Federation and the Peruvian Sports Institute.

"Their commitment and careful planning have allowed us to stage this global softball celebration."
