Austria’s Jan Hörl captured his first men’s individual title in the International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup as he enjoyed a superb weekend in Polish city Wisla.

Hörl, who came first in qualifying on Friday (December 3), took the lead with an opening jump of 121 metres to register 123.4 points.

The Austrian then produced an even better jump, landing 128m for 138.5 as he finished with a winning score of 261.9.

The victory comes just 24 hours after he helped Austria win the opening men’s team event of the season in Wisla.

Stefan Kraft, who was also part of that victorious team, posted 123.1 after a first jump of 120m to move into second spot.

But Kraft was overtaken by Marius Lindvik of Norway.

Lindvik registered jumps of 122m and 124m to climb to second with 255.2 and Kraft had to settle for bronze with 253.6 after a second-round leap of 123m.

Three of the next four places were taken by German ski jumpers.

Karl Geiger finished just outside the podium places with 251.3 points as Marcus Eisenbichler placed fifth with 246.3 points and Pius Paschke came seventh with 241.2.

Cene Prevc of Slovenia sealed a top-six spot with 241.6.

Klingenthal in Germany is due to host two stages of the Ski Jumping World Cup on December 11 and 12.
