Claudia_Bokel_medalNovember 25 - Olympic medallist and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Claudia Bokel is set to bring her wealth of experience to the Munich 2018 Bid Committee.

Bokel, who won a silver medal in the fencing at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, will be part of the Committee's delegation to the European Olympic Committees (EOC) General Assembly here tomorrow.

Bokel's arrival means members of the Munich 2018 Bid Committee now have a total of 14 Olympic and World Championships medals between them.

The senior delegation in Belgrade is being led by Chair of the Munich 2018 Bid Committee, Katarina Witt.

Chief executive officer of the Munich 2018 Bid Committee, Bernhard Schwank, said: "We are very excited to have Claudia on board for this week's presentation.

"Claudia was with us in Acapulco and in Guangzhou and her contribution was invaluable.

"Having her up on stage in Belgrade will make certain our message retains its freshness and dynamism.

"Our bid concept is extremely strong, and offers the entire Olympic family some outstanding benefits and opportunities.

"We have to make sure we keep communicating that in a relevant, engaging way."

Said Bokel: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to address the EOC General Assembly - it is a privilege to be able to help tell our powerful story to one of our most important audiences.

"With Munich's and Bavaria's long, proud history of staging international sports events to world-leading standards, and with the individual talent running through the core of our team, we are very well placed to design and deliver a bid concept that really speaks to the athletes."
