Aspenes, who triumphed in the individual race earlier at the event at the German venue, finished the 12.5 kilometres course in 34min 2.1sec.

The Norwegian took victory despite amassing three penalties, with Petr Pashchenko of Russia earning silver, 38.1sec back.

Germany's Lucas Fratzscher came through to secure the bronze medal, 53.0 behind Aspenes.

"Second gold, it is just amazing," said Aspenes.

"Today the conditions were really hard. 

"On the third shooting I had a little gap with not so much wind in the start so I had two really fast hits, but then I also had to stop like the rest. 

"Then it calmed a little bit and then I thought that I need to use the opportunity to shoot and get out fast."

Alina Stremous of Moldova won the women's 10km event to claim her maiden title at this level.

Stremous clocked 30:39.2 to beat Janina Hettich of Germany, who crossed the line 17.7 adrift of the Moldovan athlete.

Norway’s Jenny Enodd completed the podium as she sealed bronze.

The event in Germany is set to conclude tomorrow.
