Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Alina Harnasko topped scoring on the first day of rhythmic gymnastics' Miss Valentine Tartu Grand Prix in Estonia.

The Belarusian finished third in the individual event in the Japanese capital, and enjoyed a successful opening day at the Grand Prix at the University of Tartu Sports Hall.

Harnasko scored 34.900 points with the hoop, 30.700 with the ball, 29.100 with the clubs and 30.650 with the ribbon to finish with a total of 125.350.

That was nearly 10 points clear of the 115.400 recorded by Canada's Carmel Kallemaa in second place.

Another Belarusian in Arina Krasnorutskaia was the third best performer with a 112.350.

Home favourite Melany Keler was fourth with 106.450, and Greece's Panagiota Lytra and Lithuanian Fausta Sostakaite both achieved three-figure scores with 103.900 and 102.000 respectively.

The Grand Prix finals are scheduled for tomorrow.

Two Belarusian athletes are currently on the podium, but the country's flag and anthem - along with those of Russia - have been banned from all International Gymnastics Federation events in response to the invasion of Ukraine.
