Alpine Snowboard World Cup champions will be crowned in Berchtesgaden this weekend, with Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister in pole position to earn the women's title on home snow.

Hofmeister won the last World Cup leg two days ago, in Rogla, to establish a 41-point lead in the race for the crystal globe.

Austria's Daniela Ulbing - a Beijing 2022 runner-up - is Hofmeister's closest rival, with Swiss Julie Zogg 57 points behind.

Japan's Tsubaki Miki is 67 points off the leader and the only other snowboarder who can catch Hofmeister, with 100 on offer to the victor.

Parallel slalom is on the agenda in Berchtesgaden, as opposed to parallel giant slalom which was contested in Rogla and at the Winer Olympics.

Zogg, Miki and Ulbing have all won parallel slalom World Cup legs this season, with Hofmeister finishing on the podium in all three of those events.

In the men's competition, Pyeongchang 2018 silver medallist Lee Sang-ho leads the way.

Lee is 78 points ahead of Germany's Stefan Baumeister, so is the overwhelming favourite to claim the overall title.

Eight different men have won parallel Snowboard World Cup events this season.

Among them is Russia's Dmitry Loginov, a former parallel slalom world champion who cannot compete as Russians have been banned from all International Ski Federation events.
