Tunisia’s Walid Ktila earned victory on the opening day of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix season in Dubai.

The four-time Paralympic champion emerged as the winner of the men’s T33/34 800 metres wheelchair event at the Dubai Club for People with Determination.

Ktila triumphed in a time of 1min 44.33sec, with the United Arab Emirates’ Mohamed Hammadi finishing second on 1:44.47.

Britain’s Andrew Small was third in 2:11.52.

Hannah Cockroft, Britain’s seven-time Paralympic gold medallist, won the women’s T34/53 wheelchair event in 1:53.26.

Australia’s Angela Ballard ended as the runner-up in 1:59.22.

Thailand enjoyed a podium clean sweep in the men’s T53 800m wheelchair event, with Pongsakom Paeyo first across the line in 1:38.36.

Compatriots Masaberee Arsae and Sopa Intasen followed in 1:41.25 and 1:41.52 respectively.

Thailand’s Suneeporn Tanomwong triumphed in the women’s T11/12/13 100m competition in 13.42sec, with Germany’s Katrin Mueller-Rottgardt and Janjira Panyatib completing the top three in 13.40 and 13.50.

The United States’ Noah Malone posted the fastest time in the men’s T12 100m event, ending in 10.70.

Malaysia’s Muhama Mohamad Ali Hanafiah was second in 11.43, with Colombia’s Yamil Davi Acosta Manjarres third in 11.52.

Patricia Eachus and Alexandra Helbling delivered a Swiss one-two in the women’s T54 800m wheelchair final.

Eachus won the event in 1:52.78, with Helbling left settling for second in 1:53.57.

Germany’s Merle Menje earned bronze in 1:54.88.

Kuwait’s Faisal Alrajehi won the men’s 800m T54 race in 1:34.86, followed by Thailand’s Saichon Konjen and Britain’s Nathan Maguire in 1:35.18 and 1:35.19 respectively.

Iraq’s Abbas Al-Darraji earned the men’s T36/37 400m title in a time of 54.75, with team-mate Abdulsattar Challoob finishing second in 58.24.

Yerassyl Soltangaliuly of Kazakhstan ended third in 59.88.

Colombia’s Karen Tati Palomeque Moreno and Katty Hurtado finished as the top two in the women’s T37/38/47 400m in times of 1:00.44 and 1:01.23.

India’s Jayanti Behera was third in 1:00.93.
