Italy, the United States, Scotland and Switzerland have completed the line-up for the World Men’s Curling Championship playoffs after securing the four remaining slots in Las Vegas.

Victories for Italy, the US and Scotland saw them book their place in the knockout stage while Switzerland advanced after The Netherlands stunned South Korea at Orleans Arena.

Canada and Sweden have secured the top two spots in the standings and will receive a bye to the semi-finals.

Italy progressed to the playoffs after holding off Norway 9-6 in a close opening-session match.

Norway scored two points in the ninth end and then stole one in the 10th to take the game to an extra end before skip Joël Retornaz sealed victory for Italy with a double take-out to secure three points.

The US produced a more emphatic display to clinch their playoff place as they swept aside Finland with a 7-2 triumph.

"This is exactly where we want to be," said US skip Korey Dropkin.

"We knew going into this week we were going to have a lot of tough matches.

"We’re in a good position."

Other matches in the morning session saw Germany thump Switzerland 10-3 and table-topping Canada overcome Scotland 8-6.

South Korea boosted their hopes in the next session with a 9-5 triumph against rivals Germany to move level on six wins each.

Finland bounced back from their heavy loss to the US with a 9-8 victory over The Netherlands, while the Czech Republic beat Denmark 9-2 and Sweden edged Norway 7-6.

All eyes were on the match between Scotland and Switzerland in the final round-robin session as they battled it out for the last playoff places.

Scotland took a 5-0 lead after the first four ends and were 6-1 in front following three more ends.

Switzerland battled hard but Scotland, skipped by Kyle Waddell, clinched a 9-7 win.

Despite the defeat, Switzerland joined Scotland in the next round courtesy of The Netherlands' win over South Korea.

Kim Soo-hyuk forced an extra end after levelling at 7-7 before Dutch skip Wouter Goesgens claimed the decisive final point to seal a 8-7 success to send Switzerland through to the playoffs.

Canada secured their 10th win of the round-robin stage with a 9-2 thrashing of Denmark, while Italy defeated the US 8-4.

Scotland will face the US in the qualification game with winner due to meet Canada in the semi-finals.

The other qualification match will see Italy and Switzerland go head-to-head, with Sweden awaiting the victor.

Both qualification games are due to be played tomorrow.
