Germany's Christian Reitz won gold in the men's 25 metres rapid fire pistol discipline on the penultimate day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Rio, Brazil.

Reitz, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion in the event, won with a score of 29.

France’s Jean Quiquampoix, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion in the discipline, took silver with a score of 27.

Bronze went to Henry Turner Leverett of the United States, winning his first medal at an ISSF senior competition, with 20.

Fourth place went to France’s Clement Bessaguet with 12.

In the 50m rifle three positions mixed team the gold medal match was won by Norway’s Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg 16-12.

They defeated Czech Republic’s Lucie Brazdova and Jiri Privratsky who were forced to settle for silver.

The bronze medal match was also a tight affair with Norway’s second team of Jenny Stene and Simon Claussen winning 16-14.

Stene and Claussen overcame Gitta Bajos and Istvan Peni with the Hungarian pairing finishing in fourth place.

The final medals of the World Cup are set to be decided tomorrow in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team competition.
