Every remaining unbeaten team at the World Junior Curling Championships has fallen to defeat on the fourth day of the event in Jönköping in Sweden.

The women’s action saw Latvia lose back-to-back fixtures while Switzerland beat Norway 9-6 at the Jönköping Curling Club.

The Latvians were initially comfortably beaten 8-2 against South Korea before they failed to respond to the shock defeat by losing 7-5 to Scotland.

The Norwegians had earlier recorded a 9-7 triumph against Scotland.

The United States took full advantage of Norway and Latvia stuttering by claiming 6-4 and 10-9 victories over Switzerland and South Korea respectively.

Japan also benefitted winning 6-4 against Denmark and 8-1 against Sweden.

Canada experienced a mixed day as they lost 9-8 to Sweden before beating Denmark 11-7.

The results mean Norway and the US jointly top the standings, both on five wins and one loss, followed by Japan and Latvia, both with four wins and two defeats.

In the men’s event, Norway and Scotland were both finally beaten.

Norway waved the white flag against the US after nine ends when their opponents scored two to give themselves an 8-5 lead.

Meanwhile, Scotland fought till the end against Canada as they came from 5-3 down to take a lead of 6-5 into the final end.

However, the Canadians scored one point to take the encounter to an extra end where they then secured a 7-6 victory.

Germany sit joint-top of the standings after their 7-3 triumph over South Korea.

Switzerland extended New Zealand’s winless run to six following a dominating 11-3 win, while Italy beat Sweden 4-3 to secure their second win of the competition.

Overall Germany, Norway and Scotland sit top of the standings, all with records of five wins and one loss.
