Bradly Sinden of Britain has claimed his first senior European gold on home soil at the European Taekwondo Championships in Manchester.

The Brit had won bronze and silver prior to the latest event and he ensured he topped the podium this time around with a 18-8 victory over Spain’s Javier Pérez Polo in the men’s under-68 kilograms event.

Theo Lucien of France and Nimrod Krivishkiy were the bronze medallists for this category.

"Coming into this tournament people were always talking about my nickname-Mr Consistency," the Tokyo 2020 silver medallist said.

"They said you’ve got bronze, you’ve got silver now it’s time to get gold.

"I’ve not had the best year and had a few injuries and setbacks.

"I haven’t had as much training but I am confident in my ability to get in there and perform every time."

Joe Lander also secured a title for Britain, beating Uzbekistan’s Asadbak Toshtemirov in the final of the men’s Para under-80kg final.

This was Britain’s seventh medal of the competition.

Luis Mario Najera of Mexico and Oktay Atalay of Turkey finished third.

In the women's under-46kg, Lena Stojković of Croatia defeated Emine Gögenbakan of Turkey to take the title while the women's under-67kg event saw Cecilia Castro Burgos of Spain beat Magda Wiet-Hénin of France.

Italy's Alessio Simone was victorious over Denmark's Edi Hrnic in the men's under-80kg.

Croatia's Ivan Mikulić triumphed over Turkey's Mehmet Sami Saraç in the men's Para under-80kg K44.

Turkey achieved another podium thanks to Gamze Gürdal taking down Marija Mičev in the women's Para under-57kg K44 final.

Georgia's Zarkua Gela also won the men’s Para under-80kg K41 event.

The European Taekwondo Championships is scheduled to conclude tomorrow.
