Baker had been head Ccoach with the BPTT for 13 years, having initially worked at the organisation since 2006.

"My time as head coach has been a significant part of my life and provided me with memories that will last forever", Baker said.

"It really has been a journey of ups and downs, highs and lows, but overall a very special, personal and successful journey.

"The athletes’ stories and journeys have been incredible to follow over the years, and it’s been a privilege to be part of those journeys.

"I really believe this is the right time for me to move from being a head coach into strategically leading a world class programme."

The 35-year-old has helped to oversee the most successful period in British Para table tennis history, with 14 Paralympic medals won at three different Paralympic Games during his time in the role.

After winning four medals at London 2012, three more followed at Rio 2016, including two individual golds for Will Bayley and Rob Davies.

Tokyo 2020 then became the most successful Paralympics ever for the team last year with seven medals won by British players.

Boccia, an indoor sport that involves athletes throwing, kicking or using a ramp to get a ball closest to a "jack", first appeared at the Paralympic Games in 1984.

Boccia UK has a strong recent history at the Games, having won gold medals at Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
