World Boccia has hosted its first joint coach level one course at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Prague's Charles University.

The course, which was partly staged by the Cerebral Palsy Czech Sports Federation, was attended by 10 Czech and three Slovakian national coaches.

It was developed by the global governing body and gives member federations the opportunity to train local coaches using their national curriculum.

"The coach level one course provides a wide range of knowledge and understanding of fundamental coaching principles (how-to-coach) and develop an understanding and application of the techniques of boccia (what-to-coach) in safe, appropriate, progressive, and fun coaching environments," read a World Boccia statement.

"The main outcome is to develop creative, competent and confident coaches."

Boccia is one of the main sports in the Paralympic Games, having featured at every edition since 1984.

World Boccia, formally known as the Boccia International Sports Federation, was founded in 2012 and assumed governance of the sport on January 1 2013.
