Van de Werken and Lambriex won the first race of the day in the gold fleet and followed that up with fifth- and eighth-place finishes.

Croatia's Sime and Mihovil Fantela, who had been the outstanding 49er duo a day ago, placed 21st in the opening race to allow the Dutch to move clear.

The Croatians - world champions in 2018 - followed that up with a third-place finish and won the third race of the day.

Van de Werken and Lambriex's lead has nonetheless grown from 13 points to 24.

Poles Łukasz Przybytek and Jacek Piasecki posted three top-five finishes and are up to sixth overall.

Spain's Diego Botin and Florian Trittel Paul are third but trail the Dutch leaders by 35 points.

Van Aanholt and Duetz were in brilliant form in the 49erFX racing and hold overall lead.

They finished second, first and third across three races and now lead Sweden's Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler by 11 points.

The Swedes by contrast finished third, eighth and second today.

Van Aanholt is a defending world champion, although Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Duetz - a two-time world champion - sat out last year's World Championships in Oman.

Like the 49er event, a Spanish pair are third.

Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo are said pair, trailing the Dutch by 43 points, but they did win the last race of the day.

Tomorrow is the final day of the World Championships.

One more race in the gold fleet, followed by a medal race, is scheduled.
