Joanna Manning-Cooper, who was a member of the team that delivered London 2012, has become the director of marketing, communications and public affairs at The Football Association (FA) in England.

Manning-Cooper joins the organisation from Sky where she served as its group director of corporate affairs since 2019.

She was responsible for Sky's corporate communications, international communications and events as well as the social programme, Bigger Picture.

The FA has acquired someone who had more than 25 years of experience in communications, corporate affairs and marketing in media, sport and finance.

Manning-Cooper was the head of public relations and media at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games between August 2006 and December 2012.

She became director of marketing and communications at England Rugby 2015 in January 2013 where she led the marketing and communications strategy and plan for the men’s World Cup.

Manning-Cooper moved on to the Rugby Football Union to be the body’s director of marketing, communications and digital in May 2016 and remained here for three years.

Her sporting volunteer experiences include working as the Women’s Lions Feasibility Steering Group at The British and Irish Lions, chair of the Government expert working group on football supporter ownership and engagement and independent director of The FA’s Euro 2021 Board to help stage the UEFA Women's European Championship in England.
