Sir Robert McAlpine, a construction company, has raised £56,000 ($62,000/€‎64,000) for ParalympicsGB after hosting a charity event at London's Science Museum to support athletes on their path to Paris 2024.

Seven-time Paralympic gold medallist in athletics Hannah Cockroft, three-time Boccia champion David Smith and two-time Paralympic rowing gold medallist Lauren Rowles were among the athletes to make an appearance at the event.

"Sir Robert McAlpine embodies the spirit of ParalympicsGB," Mike Sharrock, the chief executive of the British Paralympic Association, said.

"Our partnership is based on shared values of inclusion and is one we are extremely proud of at the British Paralympic Association.

"Our partners play a key role in helping us to continue to be world leading on the field of play and in creating a better world for disabled people.

"On behalf of everyone at the British Paralympic Association and ParalympicsGB, thank you for your support."

The charity gathering, which saw 300 guests from the construction industry attend, marked 10 years since London 2012 and celebrated the successes of Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022.

Those attending were able to attempt Paralympic sports and bid on various prizes, such as a one-to-one velodrome cycling session with a Paralympian, during a silent auction.

Sir Robert McAlpine, which began its partnership with ParalympicsGB in 2019, previously organised a sponsored abseil from ArcelorMittal Orbit for the British organisation earlier this year.

"I'm really proud of our partnership with ParalympicsGB because it aligns with our inclusive values, our family culture and our tireless pursuit of excellence,” Paul Hamer, the chief executive of Sir Robert McAlpine, commented.

"It is wonderful to see so many people from our industry coming together to celebrate the achievements of our Paralympic athletes, who have done so much to transform attitudes around disability.

"I want to say a special thank you to all our event supporters and those who dedicated their time and money to this incredible cause."
