The organisation stated that it has a role to play in social responsibility and acknowledges the difficulty faced by those from war-torn and developing countries.

It hopes that the subsidy will help to increase the range of participating nations and attract new competitors to the event set to take place in Nuremberg in Germany from November 23 to 27.

Of the 52 places, eight are granted to European athletes with €300 (£262/$295) available while 46 places for a €600 (£524/$591) subsidy are offered to non-Europeans.

Successful candidates for the financial help must not have participated in more than one edition of the World Championships but they may be living in a war-torn country.

Athletes that represent a country on the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) receive official development assistance which currently lists 46 nations as "least developed".

They must also commit to their participation at next month's event and "conduct themselves in an ethical manner… and comply with FITEQ rules."

The money will be able for use on costs related to travel, accommodation, visa, or border crossings.

FITEQ has set a deadline for submitting applications for the grant of October 27.

The 2022 World Teqball Championships are set to be the fourth edition of the event.

The first took place in 2017 before 2018, 2019, and 2021 contests all took place while the 2020 version was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
