The International Sambo Federation (FIAS) has once again offered its backing to conservation group Catmosphere's Catwalk campaign.

Catwalk is a global outdoor walk which aims to raise awareness of the plight of big cats.

It is taking place on November 5 this year, with routes ranging from 700 metres to seven kilometres suggested.

Anyone registering to take part has to dedicate their walk to one of seven big cats - the snow leopard, cheetah, puma, jaguar, leopard, lion or tiger.

The FIAS is supporting the tiger.

The Amur tiger, which is an endangered subspecies native to Russia's far east and some parts of China, is used by the FIAS as its mascot.

Most living Amur tigers are in Russia, where the FIAS is headquartered and it has a Russian President.

The FIAS has previously held events designed to popularise sambo while also raising awareness of the threats facing the Amur tiger.
