The agreement falls under the Asian-based organisation's decision to create an education sub-office in the Saudi Arabian capital, which was led by OCA Education Committee chair Prince Fahad bin Jalawi.

It is also said to intensify OCA's long-term plan for greater Olympic education by building on the MoU cemented with Jeong-seon County in Gangwon Province in South Korea on October 20.

This MoU was designed for the Asian Olympic Academy.

The Riyadh-based signing ceremony saw OCA Acting President Raja Randhir Singh and IOA President Isidoros Kouvelos write their partnership on paper on behalf of their bodies.

OCA director general Husain Al Musallam, IOC vice-president and OCA Advisory Committee chair Ng Ser Miang of Singapore also attended the event alongside Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee President Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and his vice-president Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdul Aziz.

Staging the ceremony in Riyadh is little coincidence as the Saudi Games are currently being held in the city as Saudi Arabia pushes to become a greater attraction for sport.

The first edition of the Saudi Games is a part of the Vision 2030 goal to raise the level of sport across the nation and to showcase its ability to stage large sporting events.

Saudi Sports Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, who is also the President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee expressed during his speech at the Opening Ceremony the country is looking to "achieve a healthy society full of individuals who are active and are passionate about various sporting pursuits".
