The Polish Curling Clubs Federation has been announced as the 70th member of the World Curling Federation (WCF).

The decision was taken after the Polish Curling Association's appeal against its exclusion at the Court of Arbitration of Court came to a close.

The Polish Curling Association was suspended for "bringing the sport into disrepute" in 2020.

The Polish Curling Clubs Federation has been given provisional status for now, and a team from the country is set to participate in the World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship, scheduled to start today.

"We are delighted to be able to officially welcome the Polish Curling Clubs Federation into the World Curling Federation and to have our Polish curlers back where they belong," Colin Grahamslaw, secretary general of the WCF said.

"It has been a long process, but we’re happy that conclusion of the procedure with CAS has given closure to the situation and allows the new Federation and the Polish curling family to return their focus to competing on the ice."

Meanwhile, Lukasz Janczar, President of Polish Curling Clubs Federation, said that "there is much work to do" despite getting provisional status.

"This is the culmination of a long process, requiring years of commitment and patience from the World Curling Federation and Polish curlers," Janczar said.

"Today we celebrate the return to the family we have always been a part of.

"We are looking forward to our first international competition, at the same time we know that we still have much work to do with the internal situation of curling in Poland."
