Mirela Rahneva earned a first International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup victory in close to four years at Park City, while Christopher Grotheer was also victorious.

Canadian Rahneva won the women's skeleton contest thanks in no small part to a first-run course record.

Rahneva stopped the clock after 49.12sec - more than half a second quicker than the previous course record.

A second run of 49.30, while only fourth-quickest in the field, was enough to earn the win in 1min 38.42sec.

Tina Hermann, the world champion from Germany, was second in 1:38.52 and Britain's Laura Dees third in 1:38.55.

Dees was propelled onto the podium by a blistering 49.14 second run.

Conditions were ripe for speed in Utah as Olympic champion Grotheer also set a track record in winning the men's contest.

Runs of 48.14 and the 48.12 were the two fastest in the field.

South Korea's Jung Seung-gi was second, 0.17sec off the German's pace.

Marcus Wyatt from Britain was third and leads the overall standings.

German Hannah Neise - the current Olympic champion but sixth today - heads the women's standings.
