The Oman Olympic Academy began a three-day course for teachers to identify young talent in schools on Monday (December 5).

Dr Majid bin Saeed Al-Busafi, director of the Humanitarian Research Centre at Sultan Qaboos University, was the main lecturer at the course, which was attended by 20 teachers from the Oman School Sports Association as well as public and private schools.

The Oman Olympic Academy, which comes under the umbrella of the Oman Olympic Committee, was inaugurated in December 2018 with the mission to disseminate and promote Olympic values and philosophy.

The course aims to shed light on the different stages of sports selection and the sciences related to the training process.

Oman has never won an Olympic medal but has sent athletes to 10 consecutive Summer Games.
