The multi-purpose venue, which serves as the home of Coventry City Football Club, has confirmed that it attracted more than 966,000 visitors in the past 12 months with the overall figure rising by over 348,000 compared to 2021.

Rugby sevens, judo and wrestling competitions were held at the CBS Arena during Birmingham 2022.

A Commonwealth Convention Centre totalling £6.3 million ($7.7 million/€7.1 million) was created before the Games.

The development increased the indoor conference and exhibition space at the arena to 7,750 square metres.

Matches during the Rugby League World Cup were also staged at the 32,000-seater stadium.

More than 600,000 people attended sport events at the venue between January and December.

Performances by American band The Killers and German act Rammstein also saw in excess of 60,000 concert goers head to Coventry.

More than 630 events have been hosted over the course of the year at the arena - an 37 per cent increase from last year.

"Set against the backdrop of a difficult year, our team has produced an extraordinary 12 months of business at the venue," said Paul Michael, commercial director at Coventry Building Society Arena.

"We have hosted a record number of exhibitions and have further positioned the venue as a leader in that sector, with new exhibitions launching with us including The Big Zero Show and Beauty UK.

"Now we have the certainty of our new ownership we are set for an even stronger 2023."

After the CBS Arena staged the rugby sevens competition at Birmingham 2022, Coventry City were hit by a series of postponments due to the condition of the pitch.
