Marco Odermatt of Switzerland won his second International Ski and Snowboard Federation Alpine Skiing World Cup in the super-G discipline in as many days at Cortina D’Ampezzo in Italy.

Odermatt produced a controlled display, demonstrating impeccable timing and real bravery, as he took the infamous Delta turn at high speed on his way to claiming victory in 1min 25.13sec.

Reflecting on his win Odermatt said: "For sure it was the perfect race for me again.

"It was difficult. I was very tight on the line twice, I guess, but that’s super-G.

"Sometimes you take the gate, sometimes you just miss it.

"The confidence helps, and after yesterday the confidence was very big again."

The home fans had something to celebrate with second place going to Italy’s Dominik Paris in 1:25.89.

The podium was completed by Austria’s Daniel Hemetsberger, securing his first top three in super-G in 1:26.16.

Victory puts Odermatt 148 points clear in the World Cup super-G standings following an eighth win of the season, and fourth in the super-G discipline.

Odermatt, the reigning Beijing 2022 giant slalom champion leads the overall standings on 540 points, with Switzerland’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde in second place on 392 and Vincent Kriechmayr of Austria in third with 299.
